Set up my start waves
Updated October 2026
Sorting runners into start waves quickly takes time. It all happens in the Planning tab of your space. The schedule is organized into days, then waves, then slots. Here is how to go about it.
Generate your waves in one click
You do not have to place runners one by one. Auto-generation builds your schedule from your entry list, with several settings.
- By category, so you only mix what should be mixed.
- Sorting by rank, to build waves according to the standings.
- A filter on checked-in runners, so you only place those who have arrived.
Days, waves and slots
You set the start order of the categories by drag and drop, then assign the runner or team and the timing device for each slot. That is what lets times come in automatically on race day. With chip timing, each runner is timed from their own crossing of the line, which keeps wave starts fair.
Reorder and adjust
Nothing is locked. You reorganize your waves and the start order by drag and drop, at any time, right up to race day. Handy when a runner drops out or a category fills up after check-in.
Export the schedule for your volunteers
Once your schedule is ready, you export it to Excel. A colored, readable grid to print or share with the volunteers in the start corral. Everyone knows which wave goes, and when. To broadcast results during the race, see also how to display the leaderboard on a big screen.
